This session will explore the mutually supportive nature of making, progressive ideals, and computer science education, while cutting through the confusion associated with the hype.

Educon is an innovation conference where we can come together, both in person and virtually, to discuss the future of schools. Every session will be an opportunity to discuss and debate ideas — from the very practical to the big dreams.

Engineering is one of the least discussed components of STEAM education. This session will be a conversation about what engineering should look like in K-12. Is it simply hands-on science? Do you need a special curriculum? Is it only for students who are thinking of engineering as a college major?
Mythopoeic theory suggests that you teach based on a personal myth about how learning occurs. When terms like genius, revolution, transformation, and reform get tossed about, it’s worth taking a deep breath to clarify basic beliefs about learning, teaching, and educational progress. We will explore three essential questions for educators.
